Levy working to sign £55m star for Tottenham who could earn £8.5m+ a year

Daniel Levy and Johan Lange are working to sign a £55 million star for Tottenham Hotspur this month, according to a recent report.

Spurs’ winless run stretched to four games in the Premier League over the weekend, as they suffered defeat to Newcastle United, a result that puts Ange Postecoglou under more scrutiny.

Tottenham transfer news

Given how the season is going for Tottenham and where they find themselves in the league, Postecoglou could be pushing the Spurs board to loosen the purse strings this month, as he may have his eye on one or two more incomings.

Tottenham have already completed some transfer business this month, as they have brought in goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague, and they are looking to follow that up by bringing in a new defender and possibly a forward in this transfer window.

But a new midfielder could also arrive this month, as it’s been reported that Spurs have made an enquiry to sign David Frattesi from Inter Milan.

The Premier League side want to add depth to their squad but face strong competition to secure the transfer of Frattesi, as Manchester United and Newcastle are also chasing the 25-year-old. Despite the midfielder not playing regularly for Inter, they don’t want to lose the player and are only willing to negotiate a deal if they receive an offer of £42 million.

Levy working to sign Randal Kolo Muani for Tottenham

It was reported over the weekend that Spurs have held internal talks over a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani. Now, according to The Boy Hotspur, Levy and Lange have flown out to France to negotiate a deal to sign Kolo Muani for Tottenham.

The 26-year-old joined the French champions in the summer of 2023, but it has been a move that has just not worked out for either the player or the club. The France international impressed at both FC Nantes and Eintracht Frankfurt, but at PSG he has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot, and that has seen him not be as effective in front of goal.

Kolo Muani has played 14 times for PSG in all competitions this season, but he has just started two of those games and has scored two goals in the process. The forward is out of favour, and a move seems likely this month.

The report states that PSG are ready to let Kolo Muani leave this month, and it could cost Tottenham around £55 million to get a deal over the line, but were he to join the Premier League side, the fee is not expected to be paid until 2026.

It also adds that he could earn £165,000 a week at Spurs, which is more than £8.5 million a year. Kolo Munai’s arrival would provide competition and support to Dominic Solanke, who has had to lead the line for Spurs for the majority of this season.

73-touch Rangers star was even better than Cerny vs Dundee

Glasgow Rangers returned to winning ways at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon with a hard fought 1-0 win over Dundee in the Premiership.

Philippe Clement saw his side lose the League Cup final last weekend, despite the team performing as well as they have against Celtic in recent years.

A slow first 45 minutes saw Rangers dominate proceedings, yet they couldn’t find a breakthrough. Vaclav Cerny ensured the Light Blue started the second half in a positive mood.

The Czech winger was played in behind the Dundee defence before rounding Trevor Carson in goal and slotting in what turned out to be the winner.

Ianish Hagi had a goal disallowed for offside, while the home side also struck the woodwork four times in total during the match.

Cerny delivered yet another match-winning display, and it is a shame Clement can only count on him for this season, unless the club can agree a permanent deal for the forward.

Vaclav Cerny’s game in numbers vs Dundee

Prior to the clash against the Dens Park side, Cerny had scored nine goals while chipping in with six assists, providing a key threat on the right flank for Clement.

The way he is playing, the winger could surpass Abdallah Sima’s tally of 16 goals from last term in the next few months, and he was the game-changer against Dundee.

During his 75 minutes on the pitch, the 27-year-old registered four shots, made one key pass, and succeeded with 50% of his dribble attempts.

More than that, though, was his ability to consistently find himself in positions that terrorised the Dundee backline, and this is arguably his biggest strength.

Clement will be hoping for more over the coming weeks, especially with another Old Firm clash to come against Celtic at the start of 2025.

Another player who is coming into form at precisely the right time is Hagi. Will he play a key role over the festive season?

Ianis Hagi can be Clement’s star man

Cerny may have scored the matchwinner, but it was Hagi who was close to adding number two, although his effort was ruled out.

Throughout the game, the Romanian made one key pass, attempted seven crosses, succeeded with 100% of his dribbles, and even hit the woodwork in what was an impressive showing by the midfielder.

Ianis Hagi

His 73 touches ranked him sixth in the Rangers side, proving how much he wanted to get on the ball in order to make something happen.

By winning six out of seven ground duels, Hagi also demonstrated his strength in one-on-one battles, something which would have pleased Clement.

After not featuring for the first team until October due to a contract dispute, Hagi has enjoyed a redemption of sorts. Against Dundee, he was certainly Clement’s true hero, and it appears as though the Belgian has found a position in which Hagi can dictate the play from deep, utilising his creative talents.

Keep up this form, and he could soon be undroppable, that’s for sure, as he has a big influence in the middle of the park with his willingness to get on the ball and take responsibility for making things happen at the top end of the pitch.

Crystal Palace make transfer approach for striker who is valued at £5m

Crystal Palace have made a transfer approach to sign a young striker who is already starring in England, according to a recent report.

Palace’s winless run stretched to four games after their 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon. However, the Eagles will be relatively pleased with the performance, as they really deserved to win with 2.3 expected goals to Newcastle’s 0.02.

Crystal Palace transfer news

The draw against the Magpies lifted Oliver Glasner’s side out of the relegation zone on goal difference, but it remains just one win in the league this season. Pressure is still firmly on the Austrian, but he will hope he can continue his role and head into January, where the club can make changes to the playing squad.

One player who could make his way to Selhurst Park is defender Patrick Dorgu. The South London side have reportedly asked to be kept informed about the left-back, as they are considering a possible move, but it could cost them a staggering £50 million.

As well as looking at Dorgu, Palace also have their eye on improving their forward line and are interested in signing Angel Correa in January. Correa has struggled for regular minutes at Atlético Madrid this season and could look to explore opportunities in the New Year. His versatility and eye for goal make him a target for Palace, who may have to pay around £16.7 million to bring him to Selhurst Park.

But Correa is not the only forward who is on Palace’s radar, as they have also made an approach to sign a young English talent.

Crystal Palace make transfer approach for striker valued at £5m

According to reports this week, Crystal Palace have made an approach to Chesterfield over the signing of James Berry-McNally. The 23-year-old started his career in Liverpool’s academy, but in 2017 he made the switch to join Wigan Athletic’s under-21s.

The forward then joined Hull City in 2019 before leaving them to join Altrincham and then Macclesfield. In August 2023, Berry-McNally joined Chesterfield, and helped play a key role in them securing promotion to League Two last season, as he scored six goals and recorded four assists in 33 league games.

Berry-McNally has continued to impress this season, netting seven goals and chipping in with two assists in 16 league Two games, and that has put him on the radar of a few Premier League clubs. This report states that AFC Bournemouth and Ipswich Town are interested in signing the Chesterfield striker, as well as Palace.

All three clubs have been keeping a close eye on his performances, and Palace have made an approach to get an understanding of a possible transfer. The League Two side are aware of the interest in their striker and are willing to negotiate a deal but not for a low price. Chesterfield value the forward at around £5 million, a figure that interested teams are willing to negotiate.

Maresca could boldly drop Lavia & unleash Chelsea’s "sensational" talent

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca will face his former side Leicester City for the first time since he left the King Power to take over the reins at Stamford Bridge at the start of the season.

The Italian will be hoping that he avoids an embarrassing return to the East Midlands, looking to claim all three points to strengthen their Premier League top-four ambitions.

Within the first 11 outings of the league season, the 44-year-old has led the Blues to five wins, but only tasting defeat twice to the current top two of Liverpool and Manchester City.

However, this afternoon’s game against the Foxes will provide another opportunity to build on their impressive start and close the gap to the leaders – albeit temporarily, before their respective fixtures later in the weekend.

Maresca will be without a number of his key first-team members for the trip, opening the door for various players to stake their claim for a starting role.

Chelsea’s injury news ahead of Leicester clash

Ahead of the meeting with his former side, boss Maresca spoke to the media, opening up about his side’s current injury issues ahead of the trip to the King Power.

The Italian confirmed that right-back Reece James will miss the meeting after a hamstring injury suffered in training during the international break.

When asked about the nature of the 24-year-old’s setback, Maresca stated:

“We have just one injured player, that is Reece. Unfortunately, he felt something small and we don’t want to take any risks for the weekend. Hamstring. It’s a muscular problem. We don’t want to take any risks for this weekend. Hopefully, it’s not something long.”

However, it is the only new absence for the Blues boss to contend with this weekend, with a near fully-fit squad to choose from against Steve Cooper’s side.

Maresca may be tempted to recall one player who impressed off the bench during the previous outing against London rivals Arsenal before the recent international break.

The player Maresca needs to recall against Leicester

Argentinian midfielder Enzo Fernández arrived at Stamford Bridge in a £106.8m deal from Benfica back in January 2023 – with real hopes of transforming the club’s midfield department.

However, in recent months, he’s found starts hard to come by in the Premier League, being named as a substitute in each of the last four matches – only being able to gain minutes off the bench.

Roméo Lavia has been the man preferred alongside record-signing Moises Caicedo in the centre of the park in recent weeks, with the Belgian finally getting his run in the first-team after an injury-hit first season at the Bridge.

The 20-year-old made one league appearance last season but has kept the Argentinian l out of Maresca’s side in recent weeks – demonstrating how sensational he’s been since his return to action.

However, in Fernandez’s last league outing off the bench, he provided the assist for Pedro Neto’s goal against Arsenal at the Bridge a couple of weeks ago.

It follows his hat-trick of assists in the first half of the Europa League clash with FC Noah, with the 23-year-old registering four assists in his last 67 minutes of club football.

Such a record simply can’t be ignored, with the “sensational” talent, as dubbed by talent scout Jacek Kulig, needing to be recalled for the clash against Leicester if the Blues are to continue their current run.

It will be a game Maresca won’t want to lose given his affiliation with the hosts, with a win massively strengthening their grip on a Champions League place.

If Fernandez is unleashed, his attacking and creative influence could well help to dominate the newly-promoted Foxes on their own turf.

Better than Isak: 8/10 Newcastle star just dropped a "monumental" display

Newcastle were victorious over Nottingham Forest taking them to eighth in the Premier League table, sitting on 18 points after 11 games played. The Magpies have won five times, drawn three, and lost three, now just one point from the top four.

Murillo put Forest 1-0 up in the 23rd minute, with the hosts going in at half-time leading Newcastle at the City Ground. But second-half goals from Alexander Isak, Joelinton, and Harvey Barnes secured all three points for the visitors.

Newcastle eventually got what they deserved, having 56% possession, creating two big chances and taking 17 shots, generating 1.56xG, and getting their goals in the end. T

here were some top individual performances in this game, starting with the first Newcastle goalscorer, Isak.

Alexander Isak's performance vs Forest

The 25-year-old looks back to his best now and his display on Sunday afternoon proved it.

The striker scored one and assisted one in Newcastle’s 3-1 victory over Forest, taking his tally to five goals in 11 appearances, along with two assists, totalling 918 minutes so far this season.

Alongside his goal, Isak took three shots in the game, managed 46 touches, made three key passes, and won two of his three aerial duels, putting in an excellent second-half performance to help guide the Magpies to victory after going behind in the first half.

But despite being a huge positive for Newcastle, especially in the second half of this game, there was another man who stole the headlines, achieving an 8/10 match rating from Shields Gazette.

Joelinton's MOTM performance in numbers

The 28-year-old Brazilian has made 14 appearances already this season, being an ever-present figure in Eddie Howe’s side, scoring two goals across his 1,170 minutes played.

He was signed by the club back in 2019, joining from Hoffenheim for a club-record deal of around £40m. Joining as a striker, and now playing as more of a central midfielder for the Magpies, Joelinton has now played 198 games for the club, scoring 27 goals and providing 15 assists.

But on Sunday, the Brazilian started in a wide midfield position – not overly common for him – and battled hard with what was described as a “monumental” display from a “superstar” player by Toon reporter Andy Sixsmith.

He won six of his ten ground duels, alongside four of his six aerial duels, allowing Newcastle to win the ball back in dangerous areas and launch attacks quickly.

His three tackles, one interception and one clearance all came from playing in a more advanced wide role, showing his ability to do a job wherever he’s put, on both sides of the ball.

The 28-year-old scored the goal to put Newcastle 2-1 up, changing the game heavily in his side’s favour, picking the ball up on the edge of the area and then finding the back of the net in devastating fashion.

Isak was very impressive, but Joelinton deserved his Player of the Match award for his dynamic display, and Newcastle fans will be hoping he can continue to deliver many more performances of that standard.

Incredible Rangers teen is already Ibrox’s answer to Lennon Miller

Glasgow Rangers haven’t really produced a standout academy talent in the Ibrox ranks since Alan Hutton, who was sold 16 years ago.

Hutton broke through into the first team during the 2003/04 campaign, going on to play over 100 times for Rangers before Walter Smith accepted a bid of around £9m from south of the border in January 2008, which saw the defender leave.

Alan Hutton

There is a case for Nathan Patterson to be included in the list of finest academy graduates since Hutton’s departure, but he failed to dislodge James Tavernier from the coveted right-back position in the Gers side.

His potential saw Everton come in with a total bid of £16m, which was obviously far too good for the club to turn down.

Philippe Clement signed just two Scotsmen during the summer – Connor Barron and Liam Kelly – with the bulk of his transfer dealings coming from abroad.

It is no secret that a strong Scottish core not only helps with the European squad quotas but also helps with the club’s identity. Smith’s excellent nine-in-a-row side from the 90s had the likes of Andy Goram, Richard Gough, Ian Durrant, Ian Ferguson and Ally McCoist leaving a lasting impression.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, could Clement perhaps lure one of Scotland’s finest young talents to Ibrox?

Rangers eyeing one of Scotland's best talents

Links to both sides of the Old Firm were natural given Liam Miller’s rise, as he has emerged as arguably the brightest talent Scotland have produced in recent years, certainly in the midfield.

Indeed, according to the Daily Mail, both Rangers and Celtic are showing plenty of interest in Miller, who could cost around £4m as Motherwell hold out for the best possible fee for their prized asset.

It is inevitable that the Steelmen will have to sell sooner rather than later, but who can begrudge them wanting the highest fee possible?

This means Clement will need to open up the coffers to lure the midfielder to Ibrox. Given Celtic’s domestic dominance, allowing them the chance to play in the Champions League, they have the upper hand, that’s for sure.

If the opportunity is there, however, the Gers must go all in for the 18-year-old.

Lennon Miller’s statistics for Motherwell this season

Since making his debut in 2022/23, Miller has already made 55 appearances for the Premiership side, scoring five goals and grabbing six assists.

It has been a remarkable rise for the youngster, who has yet to make his international debut, despite captaining his club and featuring in every single one of their games this term, registering seven goal contributions in the process.

Miller has also created five big chances, averages 2.1 key passes, 0.9 successful dribbles and wins 5.1 total duels per game in the top flight for Motherwell.

He is certainly showing maturity well beyond his tender age and there is no doubt he is going to be a future star for club and country.

If Rangers allow Celtic to snatch someone of Miller’s quality away from their grasp, then it would represent a massive, missed opportunity for Clement, especially as he could generate a profit for the club after a few years, such is his incredible potential.

Players such as Cole McKinnon, Alex Lowry and Leon King have shown glimpses of their vast talents in recent years, but they now need more chances to grow and demonstrate that they can deliver on the senior stage.

Leon King

Is there a youngster at the club who has a bigger ceiling than the three aforementioned players? Indeed, might he even be an even bigger talent than Miller?

Rangers' very own Liam Miller

The player in question here is Bailey Rice, who ironically joined the Glasgow side from Motherwell in the summer of 2022, rejecting an offer of a professional contract at the club to move to Ibrox.

Journalist Mark Hendry hailed the young midfielder as a “prospect” even before he linked up with the Light Blues, as Manchester City were also displaying a keen interest in bringing Rice south of the border.

Rangers was the next step for the Scot, as he would be given the chance to train alongside better players, while also having a chance to make inroads into securing minutes in the senior squad over the next couple of seasons. It didn’t take long for him to make an impression.

In The Pipeline

Football FanCast's In the Pipeline series aims to uncover the very best youth players in world football.

The 2022/23 campaign saw Rice make 21 appearances for the B side in the Lowland League and UEFA Youth League, where he scored twice and grabbed an assist too.

Later that season, Michael Beale gave Rice his senior debut against Livingston, coming off the bench in the dying minutes. What makes this even more remarkable is the young midfielder had captained the Scotland U17 side to a 7-0 victory over Switzerland in Spain just 24 hours prior.

He jetted back to Scotland in order to join the first-team squad, thus becoming the youngest player in the post-war era to make his league debut for the club.

Two more league appearances followed last season, as Rice continued his development, slowly easing into more senior training.

The defensive midfielder has a ridiculously high ceiling, although he hasn’t managed to play any minutes in the first team this season, despite being included in the matchday squad five times.

The rise of Miller is due to him being trusted in the Motherwell starting XI, and they are now being rewarded with a player who is capable of special things.

The same could be said for Rice if he could secure some consistent minutes under Clement. There is a fine player ready to be unearthed in the 18-year-old, but unless there is a significant injury crisis, he may have to wait for his next opportunity.

The first Sporting player Man Utd want to sign for Amorim has been revealed

Manchester United are keen to raid Sporting CP in the wake of announcing Ruben Amorim as their new coach, it has been reported, as they look to turn around their disastrous start to the Premier League season.

Amorim appointed Ten Hag's successor

Less than a week after the announcement of Erik ten Hag leaving Manchester United, the Red Devils confirmed that Ruben Amorim would step into the vacancy in the Old Trafford technical area.

“Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruben Amorim as Head Coach of the men’s first team, subject to work visa requirements”, the Red Devils announced.

“He will join until June 2027 with a club option of an additional year, once he has fulfilled his obligations to his current club. He will join Manchester United on Monday 11 November.”

Ten Hag was well backed in the transfer window by the Manchester United hierarchy, bringing in several of his former Ajax players to the club during his two year tenure including Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs De Ligt in the most recent transfer window, as well as the infamous arrival of Antony in a deal worth £86m.

It is expected that Amorim will be afforded the same luxury, and that could see him return to Sporting to land fresh talent, with his 3-4-2-1 system not one that United’s current squad appear well suited to as things stand. Now, a surprise name has been put forward as his potential first signing.

Report claims Sporting forward on Amorim's radar

That comes as reports in Spain claim that Amorim is considering an attempt to bring former Wolves and Barcelona forward Francisco Trincao to Old Trafford in the upcoming transfer window.

Though United would likely be keen to poach some of Sporting’s top talent, heavy spending in recent seasons means that money is tight at Old Trafford, meaning that the likes of Goncalo Inacio, Pedro Goncalves and Marcus Edwards could all be off the table.

However, Trincao represents an excellent opportunity, with the Portuguese forward reportedly available for just €15m (£12.6m).

Man Utd ace Ten Hag called "very good" won't play once for Van Nistelrooy

He was tipped to impress this season at Old Trafford, but will be forced to wait.

ByBen Browning Nov 1, 2024

Still just 24-years-old, Trincao has already tasted Premier League action during a loan spell at Wolves, where he found the net three times in 30 appearances, though those outings were largely as a substitute.

However, it was under Amorim during the pair’s stint together at Braga that Trincao hit the headlines, enjoying a campaign that persuaded Barcelona to shell out £26m to sign him in 2020, before he fell out of favour and returned to Sporting on loan, before being signed permanently.

Having now played under Amorim over 100 times, he understands what the new Manchester United boss wants from his forward players and is enjoying a resurgence in his career in Portugal, having grabbed three goals and five assists in nine outings so far this season.

Utilised largely as a right-winger, the Portuguese talent could solve United’s right-sided headache, and the arrival of a low-cost but well suited addition to the squad would demonstrate a major departure from previous transfer policies where reputation was placed above fit in the starting XI. For just £12m, Trincao could be a very savvy addition.
