Everton scouting £58m gem who could leave for less than his release clause

Everton are believed to be interested in signing a sensational young talent who has a £58m release clause but is set to be sold far below that number, even sending scouts to watch him in action.

Latest Everton news

It’s fair to say that it’s a busy period at Goodison Park currently, with so much happening surrounding the ownership situation and Sean Dyche’s future. The Friedkip Group have acquired Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake in Everton, which supporters are understandably happy about, with the hope being that a far happier period at the club is now on the horizon.

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri.

The Blues have got far too used to being in Premier League relegation battles in recent years, and for that reason, Dyche finds himself battling to keep his job. While the pressure on the 53-year-old has eased in recent weeks, thanks to a couple of improved results and performances, another dip after the international break could see a change in manager required.

When it comes to transfer news, new additions will always be appreciated by Everton fans, but an update on the future of a current player has been reported, with struggling striker Beto linked with a move to Roma. The Serie A club are also owned by The Friedkin Group, which could make the transfer easier to get over the line.

Everton keen on signing £58m sensation

According to an update from Caught Offside, Everton are among the Premier League clubs scouting Santos right-back Joao Pedro Chermont.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea and Wolves are all mentioned as being in the mix, too, however, with the two London clubs already preparing opening offers for the 18-year-old’s services. His current side would be willing to sell for less than his £58m release clause, in order to “alleviate their financial difficulties”.

Everton manager Sean Dyche

Chermont isn’t a household name to Premier League fans, but the fact that he has a release clause of that size immediately says how much Santos value him as a player, even though they will sell for below that amount. The teenager already has one cap to his name for Brazil’s Under-20s, suggesting that he is already ahead in his development, and the calibre of clubs interested show why Everton should be doing all they can to snap him up.

For that reason, it clearly won’t be easy for Everton to strike a deal for the Santos starlet, but this is where The Friedkin Group’s added financial muscle will hopefully come to the fore, allowing them to compete more with other clubs.

A January exit is on the cards.

The Blues need to reach a stage where they are no longer relegation battlers and instead a strong Premier League team again, and bringing in players of Chermont’s pedigree would be a massive step in the right direction.

Rangers once had the next "Stevie G", he’s now worth just £125k after exit

Glasgow Rangers finally clicked into gear during their Europa League victory on Thursday evening.

The 2-0 win over Malmö could arguably have been by a higher margin, but several easy chances were missed. Nevertheless, a win is a win and securing all three points ensures Philippe Clement begins life positively in Europe’s second-tier event.

The Belgian saw several of his summer signings produce excellent displays in Sweden, as Nedim Bajrami scored after just 55 seconds, while Neraysho Kasanwirjo was solid on his European debut for the Ibrox side.

It finally looks like the team is clicking on the pitch. Momentum now needs to be carried into the Premiership clash against Hibernian on Sunday.

Connor Barron was arguably the standout on the pitch for the Gers, performing way above his tender age, dominating the midfield battle.

Hopefully, he can continue to develop over the next few years, as there is no doubt the Light Blues have a special talent on their hands.

It wouldn’t be the first time the club had a youngster who looked like the next best thing, however, and failed to deliver on their potential, as Mark Warburton signed a midfielder who had made a name for himself at Liverpool.

Mark Warburton’s Rangers signings

The former Brentford manager took charge of the Gers ahead of the 2015/16 campaign, using that summer to beef up his squad for a promotion tilt.

Indeed, he signed players such as Danny Wilson, James Tavernier, Jason Holt and Andy Halliday, along with securing a few loan signings in the process.

They all played their part as the Light Blues secured a return to the top flight, while winning the Challenge Cup and reaching the final of the Scottish Cup.

Back in the Premiership after four years, it was clear Warburton would have to add some quality to his first-team squad. This saw players such as Niko Kranjcar, Philippe Senderos and Joey Barton added, three names that had a wealth of Premier League experience behind them.

Where Are They Now

Your star player or biggest flop has left the club but what are they doing in the present day? This article is part of Football FanCast's Where Are They Now series.

It didn’t exactly do the club much good, finishing third in the top division while failing to win either of the domestic cups. Warburton would be gone before the end of the season, departing in February 2017, and it looked like the club were stuck in a rut.

The Englishman also signed Jordan Rossiter, a young midfielder who had made a name for himself at Anfield a couple of years prior.

Jordan Rossiter’s record at Liverpool

The Englishman played 35 times for the U21, U18 and Youth League teams as he was beginning to show plenty of promise on Merseyside.

He was given his debut by Brendan Rodgers in a League Cup clash against Middlesbrough in September 2014, going on to make an immediate impression for the Reds, scoring the only goal for the club during the game, adding yet more hype to his talents.

While that was his only appearance for the senior side that season, he did go on to feature four times the following season, yet as the end of the 2015/16 campaign was drawing to a close, it was evident Jürgen Klopp didn’t see much of a future for the midfielder in his team.

He was heavily praised, with former Anfield centre-forward Robbie Fowler hailing Rossiter as “potentially a young Stevie G” way back in 2013, yet he failed to really make the grade at Anfield.

Jordan Rossiter

Liverpool’s loss was looking like it could be Rangers’ gain, as the club announced in May 2016 that Warburton had snapped him up on a pre-contract agreement, having to pay just £250k in the process.

Jordan Rossiter’s Rangers stats

After making six appearances for his new club during the opening weeks of the season, he suffered a serious calf injury which ended up ruling him out for the remainder of the campaign.

He featured in both legs of the Europa League qualifying defeat to Porgres Niederkorn at the start of the following season, while also playing 90 minutes against Dunfermline in the League Cup and a brief cameo in the top flight, but he suffered yet another calf injury, returning to score in a 5-5 draw during the final game of the season.

With Steven Gerrard taking over in May 2018, it looked like Rossiter might finally become a key part of the squad if he could remain injury free, yet he made just five appearances during the first half of the season.

It was evident his time was up at Rangers, as he spent time on loan at Bury and Fleetwood Town between January 2019 and May 2020, joining the latter permanently in the summer of 2020.

Rossiter’s injuries clearly hampered any progress he was looking to make at the Light Blues and his career is currently fizzling out in League One.

Jordan Rossiter’s current market value

According to Transfermarkt, the former Liverpool starlet is now worth just €150k (£125k) at the time of writing.

The good news for the player is that he has finally gotten over his serious injury issues, being able to play on a regular basis in the third tier now.

After a spell at Bristol Rovers, Rossiter moved to Shrewsbury Town in the summer, making two appearances this season already for the club.

Jordan Rossiter

It once looked like the player had the world at his feet. Scoring on his Liverpool debut perhaps generated more pressure on him to succeed, and he couldn’t break into the first-team squad under Klopp.

Warburton looked like he was getting a bargain by snapping up the youngster eight years ago, and if he remained fit, there was no doubt about how important he could have been for the club.

Alas, it simply wasn’t to be for Rossiter. Aged only 27, he still has a few years left in the game, but is League One his level? It certainly appears so.

Ornstein suggests £240,000-per-week Arsenal star has a "significant" injury

Arsenal take on Serie A side Atalanta on Thursday evening in their next all-important fixture of an action-packed football calendar, but there are a few concerns for manager Mikel Arteta heading into the contest.

Atalanta vs Arsenal – team news and injury updates

Arteta’s side travel to the Gewiss Stadium in very good mood, having just taken all the spoils in their North London Derby clash away to fierce rivals Tottenham – despite being without a host of key players during their 1-0 victory.

Defender Gabriel Magalhaes rose highest to thump a header past Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario from close range – feeding off an in-swinging corner – which was eventually enough to gift Arsenal three points and all the bragging rights on derby day.

Beating Ange Postecoglou’s side gets the first of three very difficult games out of the way, but a completely different test now looms in Arsenal’s first Champions League game of the 2024/2025 campaign.

Atalanta were the side to end Bayer Leverkusen’s unprecedented unbeaten run last season, handing Xabi Alonso’s league champions their first and only 2023/24 defeat with a 3-0 victory over them in the Europa League final, so Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are not to be underestimated.

Heading into the tie, Arteta will have star midfielder Declan Rice back in the team, and reports suggest that Bukayo Saka is likely to be available for Arsenal against Atalanta, having gone off against Spurs with cramp and nothing too serious.

Takehiro Tomiyasu remains out with a knee injury, though, as does summer signing Mikel Merino. The latter is yet to feature after arriving from Real Sociedad, with Merino fracturing his shoulder in training. The Spaniard isn’t expected to be back for weeks as a result, and question marks surround a few of his star teammates as well.

Indeed, there are doubts over the availability of Oleksandr Zinchenko (calf), Riccardo Calafiori (calf) and captain Martin Odegaard (ankle) – who all missed the derby through injury.

Ornstein suggests Odegaard has "significant" Arsenal injury

Zinchenko, Calafiori and Odegaard could miss Atalanta as a result, but we will have to wait for official confirmation from Arteta.

Speaking on The Athletic’s podcast this week, reliable journalist David Ornstein shared his view on the latter’s ankle problem after hearing from the Arsenal boss. Ornstein suggests Odegaard has suffered a “significant” injury at Arsenal, after he was hauled off during Norway’s 2-1 win over Austria in the Nations League last Monday.

“He was never going to make it, it was what Arteta said. And it looks like a significant injury, but look, we don’t know,” said Ornstein.

“The last I heard, they didn’t have full clarity from the scan still, because of the extent of the swelling, but the extent of the swelling concerns you, if you’re an Arsenal fan.

“Because, maybe it could be quite tough, but there’s an international break coming up as well, so they’ll be praying that their creator in chief, their captain, is okay, but they will also have to cope without him if it is going to be a prolonged absence.”

Arteta sparked hope among supporters when the Spaniard refused to rule Odegaard out of the North London Derby on Sunday, but he wasn’t included in the squad after all and remains a doubt for Thursday’s 20:00 kick off.

The £240,000-per-week star is one of Arsenal’s most crucial players, and Arteta will be keen to get him back out on the field as soon as possible.

Foden loves him: Man City academy teen could be their next Rico Lewis

Manchester City continued their perfect start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign with a narrow 2-1 victory over Brentford at The Etihad on Saturday.

The Cityzens have now won all four of their matches in the top-flight and currently sit at the top of the table, as they go in search of a fifth straight title.

Erling Haaland, of course, scored both of the goals for Pep Guardiola to secure all three points, after an early strike from Yoane Wissa had given the away side the lead.

The Norway international has now scored a staggering nine goals in four Premier League matches so far this season, including hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham United.

He has been the star of the show for City, with his outrageous goalscoring record, but the former Borussia Dortmund marksman has not been the only shining light of the campaign.

Rico Lewis has emerged as a regular starter for Pep Guardiola at the start of this season and has caught the eye with his performances for the champions.

Rico Lewis' impressive start to the season

The impressive academy graduate only started eight of his 16 appearances in the Premier League during the 2023/24 campaign, as a bit-part player for City.

He was behind Kyle Walker in the pecking order, for club and country, last season but the tables have turned and it is now the other way around.

Lewis has started all four of the club’s matches in the Premier League this term and was selected for the most recent England squad, by Lee Carsley, ahead of Walker.

rico-lewis-man-city-championship-leeds-transfers

The 19-year-old starlet, who turns 20 in November, has earned his place in the starting XI on merit and has been an impressive performer in the division this term, with three starts at right-back and one at left-back.

Lewis, who played 39 times for the club at U18 and U21 level combined, has not looked out of place as a regular first-team operator, from a technical or physical perspective.

As you can see in the table above, he has been a combative and dominant defensive option for Guardiola, winning 67% of his physical contests in the Premier League this term.

He has also completed 87% of his attempted passes and recorded one assist, for Haaland against West Ham, which shows that the full-back has been reliable and capable in possession for City.

These statistics show that Lewis deserves his place in the side for the Cityzens and suggest that he is on course for a fantastic breakthrough campaign with the champions, if he can maintain this level of form over the next eight months or so.

Guardiola has provided young players, like Lewis, Oscar Bobb, and Phil Foden, with chances to shine in the first-team over the years and he may already have his next version of Lewis in the U21 side right now, in talented teenager Jacob Wright.

Jacob Wright's big potential

Just like the 19-year-old first-team star, Wright can play in the middle of the park in central midfield or as a right-back, which suggests that he would be comfortable inverting in Guardiola’s system.

He has played 16 games at right-back and 31 matches in a defensive midfield role at academy level for City and could, therefore, be ideal for the right-back role that would see him invert into a central midfield position alongside, usually, Rodri to create a 3-2 build-up for City.

The 18-year-old starlet has caught the eye with his performances for the youth teams, with nine goals and six assists in 65 games for the U21 and U18 sides combined, despite playing in defensive positions.

As you can see in the table above, Wright impressed in his first appearance of the 2024/25 EFL Trophy campaign against Chesterfield last month.

He started in a central midfield position and got his name on the scoresheet, whilst also demonstrating his qualities in and out of possession, completing 90% of his attempted passes and making nine tackles, interceptions, and recoveries.

Along with that impressive outing, Wright has also produced an eye-catching two goals and three assists in three Premier League 2 matches this season, and his form may catch Guardiola’s eye with a view to more first-team exposure this term.

The next steps for Jacob Wright

The teenage whiz made two first-team appearances in the 2023/24 campaign, with one outing in the Champions League and one in the FA Cup, and this shows that he is already on the manager’s radar.

Earlier this year, Guardiola claimed that the midfielder has been training with the first-team and is “progressing really well”, which suggests that the Spanish head coach is pleased with his development so far.

Reigning Premier League Player of the Year Foden, who came through the academy system himself, also said that he was “delighted” for Wright and that it is a “dream” for him to play alongside fellow academy graduates like the teenage ace.

This shows that he has caught the eye of the manager and one of the first-team’s biggest stars, which speaks to his potential as a player at such a young age.

At the age of 18, there is no immediate rush for Wright to emerge as a key player for City’s senior side, given that Lewis has only now nailed down a starting spot and is about to turn 20.

The goal for the England U20 international this season should be to rack up a smattering of first-team appearances in all competitions and to earn a Premier League debut.

Wright could then use that experience as a platform to kick on and establish himself in the 2025/26 campaign as Rico Lewis 2.0 for Guardiola.

Newcastle Make First Move For "Sensational" £52m Star

Newcastle United have already made their first move for Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa, however the Italian club are set to hold out for a fee of €60m (£52m), according to reports.

What's the latest Newcastle transfer news?

Newcastle have already shelled out £52m on a new signing this summer, with Sandro Tonali's arrival from AC Milan now confirmed, and reporter Mark McAdam believes the midfielder is a real statement signing.

Speaking on Sky Sports, McAdam said: “How many times do you get Newcastle United signing the best player from AC Milan? He’s at the right age, he’s not late 20’s, he’s not a teenager, he’s about to enter his prime.”

Having already spent big to bolster his squad ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, Eddie Howe has no plans to stop there, and the St. James' Park outfit are now preparing an offer for Eintracht Frankfurt attacking midfielder Jesper Lindstrom.

Leeds United duo Tyler Adams and Brendan Aaronson have previously been linked with a move to Newcastle, following their side's relegation from the Premier League, however there are now indications that Howe could dip back into the Serie A market.

According to a report from Corriera dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the Magpies have already made their move to sign Chiesa, who could be allowed to leave this summer, having fallen out of favour somewhat under manager Max Allegri.

The 25-year-old does not fit into Allegri's 3-5-2 system, as he is unable to play in his favoured inverted winger role down the right, and with contract talks not progressing, he would be open to a move abroad.

Newcastle have made an enquiry about the Italian's availability, but they are not the only Premier League club to have made that move, with Liverpool and Aston Villa also "at the window".

At the moment, Juventus want to hold out for €60m (£52m), however the interested clubs are only willing to spend a little over €40m (£34m), without going any further.

Are Newcastle signing Federico Chiesa?

Currently, Juventus' asking price is far more than Newcastle are willing to pay, however the Italian club could change their stance in the latter stages of the transfer window, if the £153k-per-week attacker makes it clear he wants to leave.

Should the Magpies win the race for the Italy international, they will be adding another top-quality playmaker to their ranks, given that he ranks in the 96th percentile for assists per 90 in the past year, when compared to his positional peers.

Chiesa Liverpool target

Hailed as "sensational" by members of the media, the former Fiorentina man also ranks in the 87th percentile for tackles per 90, displaying his willingness to pitch in with the defensive side of the game.

Although he did not hit the heights expected of him in front of goal last season, Chiesa has found the back of the net regularly in the Serie A in the past, notching ten goals for Fiorentina in the 2019-20 campaign. As such, it is exciting news that Newcastle have made their interest clear.

West Ham: £50m "Monster" Could Be Ideal Onana Alternative

David Moyes appears to have made Amadou Onana one of his top targets to replace Arsenal-bound Declan Rice, but there could be a better alternative out there for West Ham United at a cheaper price.

Who should West Ham sign to replace Rice?

Money is not an issue for West Ham this summer given they are about to land £105m through the sale of Rice to Arsenal, a deal that is close to being officially announced.

That is not to say the Hammers want to overpay for any player, but it seems unlikely Everton will budge on their reported £55m valuation of Onana, who impressed in his debut Premier League campaign.

Not only that, Chelsea are also supposedly eyeing up the Belgium international should they be unable to land their own top target in Brighton and Hove Albion's Moises Caicedo.

West Ham should not worry too much about the prospect of missing out on Onana, though, as The Sun claims the Europa Conference League winners are also interested in signing Scott McTominay from Manchester United.

Would Scott McTominay be a good signing for West Ham?

McTominay featured 24 times for United in the Premier League last season, but the imminent arrival of Mason Mount from Chelsea will push the Scotsman further down the midfield pecking order.

The 26-year-old has been praised and criticised in equal measure across his six seasons as a United regular, but there is no doubt he is good enough for a side outside of the top six.

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.

Indeed, on the basis of his performances over the past 12 months, FBref's player comparison model ranks Onana as the player second-most like McTominay from midfielders in the English top flight.

The pair have an identical return of 0.17 goals per shots on target, while also attempting an identical number of passes (33.5 per 90), with Onana ever so slightly ahead in terms of passing accuracy (83.3% v 82.2%).

While Onana also has a slightly better figure in terms of tackles won per 90 (1.56 v 1.47), McTominay ranks better when it comes to aerial challenges won (2.64 v 2.17) and ball recoveries (6.05 v 5.43).

Described in December 2020 as a "physical monster" by then-United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and someone who "can do everything", it would not be harsh to suggest McTominay's Old Trafford career has not quite taken off in the way many may have hoped.

But valued at a slightly smaller fee than Onana at £50m, according to the Daily Star, and with the midfielder recently adding more goals to his game, it may be a move worth pursuing for Moyes to kick-start to post-Rice era.

Spurs: Levy set to hold talks over "outstanding" star

Tottenham Hotspur are set to hold talks with Barcelona "in the next few days", with a view to signing Clement Lenglet on a permanent deal, according to journalist Rudy Galetti.

Is Clement Lenglet signing for Tottenham?

Daniel Levy appears to be closing in on a rather exciting signing in the form of James Maddison after successful talks, but that's not all that's going on as Spurs look to strengthen in another area this summer.

Tottenham have been negotiating a deal for Lenglet for quite some time now, with Barcelona recently proposing a swap deal including Giovani Lo Celso, who is not viewed as an "essential" player at N17.

However, Spurs were reportedly not keen on a deal of that nature, and they have instead come to the table with a bid of around €5m (£4.3m), with Barca hoping to have the transfer wrapped up by June 30th.

Not only are the La Liga club keen to conclude negotiations, the Lilywhites are also hoping for progress to be made in the near future, or they may end up moving on to other targets.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, Galetti confirmed Tottenham may consider alternative options at centre-back, should the upcoming discussions not prove to be worthwhile, saying:

"The talks will also continue in the next few days, even if Tottenham Hotspur have no intention of holding long negotiation as they do have other possible names on their list of centre-backs."

Should Tottenham sign Lenglet?

The Frenchman had a mixed season on loan last season, having been hailed as "outstanding" by members of the media early on in the campaign, after making three clearances and blocking one shot in a 2-1 victory against Fulham.

As the season went on, however, the 28-year-old did put in some very poor performances, receiving a 4.6 match rating in the 4-2 loss against Manchester City in January, after making an error that led to a goal.

That said, the former Sevilla man is a vastly experienced player at the top level, making a total of 50 appearances in the Champions League, while he has also received 15 caps for France.

clement-lenglet-tottenham-hotspur-brooklyn-lyons-foster

If Spurs are able to sign Lenglet for a fee of just £4.3m, then he could be a solid addition to the squad, at least as a back-up option, however they should not be held to ransom by Barca if they demand a higher fee.

There are plenty of alternative options available, including Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo, who may also be available for a cut-price fee this summer, having recently made it clear he wants to leave, while Edmond Tapsoba at the "top of the list" of targets.

Leeds Could Sign "Special" £25m-rated Maestro

Leeds United will be desperate to ensure that this stay in the Championship is not as long as their last, given the 16-year absence from the Premier League following their initial relegation back in 2004.

Fortunately for the club and the new ownership, the Whites do not find themselves in nearly the same level of financial peril that culminated in their brief entry into League One during that period.

The 49ers will seek an instant return to the top flight and thus could look at the other success stories from teams who bounced straight back after such a demotion.

One such example was Newcastle United, who were relegated in 2016 but saw an immediate upturn the season following. The secret to their success was shrouded in their ability to purchase the division's top players, easily cruising back to the big time.

They brought in Matt Ritchie, Grant Hanley, Dwight Gayle, Ciaran Clark and more, and finished first with 94 points.

It seems that the Whites are beginning their stroll down the same path, seeking to bolster their ranks with the stars of the most recent term.

This explains their reported interest from May in James McAtee, a young £25m-rated midfielder who spent a stellar loan spell at Sheffield United, who went up automatically in second place.

Would James McAtee be a success at Leeds United?

The 20-year-old, who has mustered up six senior appearances for his parent club Manchester City, enjoyed his first full season in senior football last campaign at Bramall Lane.

Posting 43 appearances across all competitions, in the league the Citizens loanee scored nine imperative goals and assisted a further three, outlining his offensive impetus from deep.

The left-footed maestro was omnipresent during their promotion campaign, as a relentless presence in the engine room with that touch of class needed to truly shine. As such, his 6.89 average rating in the league was upheld through a 77% pass accuracy, 57% dribble success rate, 0.9 key passes and 0.8 tackles per game, via Sofascore.

To place this kind of youthful energy into the Whites' midfield could be a masterstroke for the 49ers, who are yet to even name their new manager following the exit of Sam Allardyce and have recently released Adam Forshaw, albeit with the intention to take another look at him in pre-season.

It is a testament to the bright future that this youngster boasts, that Pep Guardiola was so keen to praise him after turning down one loan spell in 2022: "Maybe it happened because he's a special player."

leeds-united-relegation

To sign a proven talent at this level, who has a future likely way beyond this division, would not only be a statement of intent that they are not planning on staying in the Championship for long but also that they have one eye on once again battling the best from top flight too; whoever takes the dugout.

McAtee could be integral in achieving both of these goals, as a dynamic midfield magician liable to propel them back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

New Defensive Target Could Emerge For Man United

Manchester United may set their sights on trying to bring Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo to Old Trafford in the transfer window, according to journalist Dean Jones.

What's the latest transfer news involving Jean-Clair Todibo?

Last month, acclaimed transfer guru Fabrizio Romano gave an insight into Todibo's situation heading into the summer, stating on Twitter: "Understand Newcastle, Manchester Utd and Liverpool scouts were in attendance at Nice-Rennes game to monitor Jean-Clair Todibo. French centre back could get top club move in the summer — with price tag understood to be around €45m."

L'Equipe via Get French Football News also echo a similar story, claiming that Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United want to sign the 23-year-old defender, who is also being tracked by clubs around Europe, including Serie A giants Napoli and Juventus.

The £21k-a-week ace is said to be open to a new challenge next season and is mulling over his options before deciding his next career move.

Nice-Matin have revealed that Paris Saint-Germain also hold an attraction towards the former Barcelona defender, who has considerable levels of interest in his services in the off-season.

Manchester United have also been linked with other defenders recently, namely Napoli defender Kim Min-jae and Monaco star Axel Disasi, with Erik Ten Hag believed to be keen to strengthen his backline.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, journalist Jones has signified that Todibo could 'come into the equation' at Old Trafford this summer.

Jones told FFC when asked about Manchester United's interest in Todibo, Kim and Disasi: "Both players that have been scouted throughout the season [Kim Min-jae and Axel Disasi], I think Todibo as well in Ligue 1 has been looked at, so there's another name that potentially could come into the equation."

Would Jean-Clair Todibo be a good signing for Manchester United?

Todibo has enjoyed a solid campaign over in France at Ligue 1 outfit Nice and looks primed to test himself this summer by securing himself a move to an elite-level side.

In 2022/23, the Cayenne-born made 46 appearances in all competitions for Nice in a season where he was almost ever-present for his current employers, as per Transfermarkt.

Jean-Clair Todibo for Nice

WhoScored also shows that Todibo has excellent awareness of dangerous attacking situations and managed to complete an average of 3.1 clearances per match in the French top-flight this term.

The 23-year-old, who received massive praise from German legend Lothar Matthaus, who stated: "Todibo is the best centre back I’ve seen in a long time.”, was also solid in the tackle across the campaign and obtained an impressive challenge success ratio of 72.3%, according to FBRef.

Manchester United boss Ten Hag will be keen to boost his side's defensive abilities looking ahead to 2023/24 and Todibo is an addition that would excite the Old Trafford faithful due to his consistency and room to blossom further in the next few years.

Everton’s £40m "Leader" Receives Approach From PL Admirers

Everton have been approached by Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur regarding a deal for Jordan Pickford, according to reports.

Is Jordan Pickford leaving Everton?

Pickford has firmly established himself as Sean Dyche’s number one between the sticks having started 37 of the 38 top-flight games last season, and whilst coming close to relegation, he was a standout performer on Merseyside.

The England international only signed a new contract back in February which keeps him at the club until at least 2027, but there had been prior speculation that he could have been set to depart if the Toffees had dropped to the Championship.

Writing in his column for CaughtOffside, CBS reporter and journalist Ben Jacobs claimed that there was an informal agreement in place that the 29-year-old could leave if relegated, with Spurs the “frontrunner” to secure his services having held a long-term interest, and that is something that they appear to have stepped up despite him surviving the drop.

Are Tottenham signing Pickford?

According to Football Transfers, Everton have been “contacted” by Tottenham to enquire about the possibility of a summer swoop for Pickford. The Lilywhites have been tracking the goalkeeper for “several months” and have now “started to make moves” for the 6 foot star.

The Goodison Park outfit have been approached by Spurs to “establish a dialogue”, and there have also already been “discussions” held between the player’s representatives and his admirers in N17.

The Blues have placed a £40m price tag on his head, but it’s claimed that before joining, he wants “reassurances” over who their new manager is going to be as well as if Harry Kane will remain in the capital beyond the upcoming window.

Should Everton sell Pickford?

Pickford has been dubbed Everton’s “leader” by journalist Josh Bunting having captained Dyche’s side on several occasions last season, and considering the positive impact he has on the club, the board should do everything they can to retain his services for the 2023/24 campaign.

The World Cup participant kept eight clean sheets in the top-flight during the previous term which saw him receive two man-of-the-match awards, not to mention that he made a total of 123 saves from 181 shots on target against, giving him a save success percentage of 71.3%, as per FBRef.

Toffees supporters also clearly hold a lot of admiration for Pickford having voted him the Player of the Year twice, first in 2017/18 and second in 2021/22, and the thought of losing him would be a huge blow which is why he needs to remain in the net on Merseyside.
