Yorkshire remain top of the Championship and, as they reflect on their failure to break stubborn Durham resistance on a tense final day at Headingley, they will at least console themselves that they have seen the last this season of Michael Richardson.Just the sight of Richardson is enough to send their bowlers queasy in the stomach. He bats with a dedicated, upstanding air – and, as the son of the ICC chief executive, somebody would have blabbed by now if he was not that type – but as far as Yorkshire are concerned those virtues are wearing thin. They have outplayed the defending champions twice this season and they do not have a victory to show for it.Richardson’s maiden Championship hundred at Scarborough turned the Championship in Durham’s favour last season, he took another off the Yorkshire attack at Chester-le-Street earlier this season and only the most one-eyed observer would have resented him making a third as he intervened to Yorkshire’s despair yet again.Instead, he had 95 from 165 balls when Jack Brooks exploded his middle stump, but the gamest of innings had done enough to secure a draw and stymie Yorkshire’s Championship challenge in the process. His average against Yorkshire now stands at 85. Pressure stiffens his resolve and when his own captain, Paul Collingwood, remarked after three days that a pitch was full of holes then he did not need reminding that, in his own words, Durham were “staring down the barrel”.Yorkshire must have feared their wickets column would never quite add up on the third evening when Adil Rashid assessed their challenge. A couple of wickets a session should do it, was the gist of Rashid’s message. Durham began the day one down; Yorkshire got their couple of wickets a session, and even added one for good measure. Durham finished with eight down: do the math. Yorkshire supporters yearning for another Championship should demand an emergency Ofsted inspection of arithmetical standards in Yorkshire schools.Yorkshire’s lead was 136 at start of play so runs were important but even so, considering Collingwood’s remarks, it was a surprise that Rashid did not bowl to more attacking fields until later in the day; it seemed a perfect time for a bit of psychological pressure. He was solid and he beat the outside edge intermittently but rarely suggested that he could be a matchwinner. He is an improving cricketer. He is not yet an England spinner. Nobody is.Yorkshire eventually took a big wicket in the morning when Mark Stoneman stalked off cursing Adam Lyth’s lbw decision, 86 to his name. Rashid added Gordon Muchall. But at 2.30pm, Durham took the lead with six wickets left and 49 overs left to bat. A desultory cry of “Come on Yorkshire” disturbed a stiflingly hot day. It was a call of creeping desperation, the sort of call that has become common on Yorkshire grounds when Richardson comes into bat.Richardson’s partnership with Collingwood reached 44 before Brigadier Block fenced at one that bounced and turned from Rashid. One of those holes, no doubt, betraying the man who had dared to mention them. But Richardson remained unshakeable. When he stole a legside single off Tim Bresnan in mid-afternoon, a lone cry of “Have A Collection” rent the air. He was scoring rather more quickly, if surreptitiously, than that.Up above, the jet2 planes glimmered in deep blue skies as they flew into Leeds/Bradford airport. This time there would be no cocky “We have begun our descent into Leeds/Bradford where the temperature is 14C and raining” from the crew, bringing groans of contentment from passengers as their belief was confirmed that every penny spent on 35C temperatures in Malaga was worth it. “It’s been beautiful here,” is the cruellest thing you can say to anybody back from holiday.Still, Yorkshire’s supporters hoped. When Paul Coughlin became the eighth wicket to fall, a bronzed, bare-chested supporter – almost a Malaga refugee – scratched his chest so excitedly he might have bled at the prospect of victory. Durham were 93 ahead with a minimum 23 overs left. But it was the last wicket they managed as Phil Mustard’s well-paced half-century took Durham to safety.Yorkshire dropped four catches, all of them challenging. Bresnan would have hoped to hang on to a diving chance at short extra when Richardson was 27; Jonny Bairstow had a very difficult leg-side chance off the glove when Richardson was 36. The two after tea were less costly, Bairstow failing to grasp another.Bresnan was solid, but unspectacular, which must have influenced the decision by his captain, Andrew Gale, not to give him the second new ball. England discard or not, he needed to earn the chance. Instead, he returned with the match virtually dead and the PA announcer gave his name with a resigned air. By then, it might have suited his mood.

Having joined Celtic in a £5m move back in 2020, expectations were high for Albian Ajeti at Parkhead.

Indeed, Neil Lennon stated upon the Switzerland international’s arrival in Glasgow: “We are delighted to bring Albian to Celtic. He is a tremendous player, an international with real quality and I know he is really determined to do all he can to bring more success to our supporters.

“I have admired him for a long time as he is a really intelligent footballer, well balanced and a really good finisher. We are so pleased to make him a Celtic player and we hope he has a long and prosperous career with us.”

However, despite this early expectation, just one and a half years down the line, the 24-year-old’s career in Glasgow already appears to all but be at an end, with Ajeti having been heavily linked with a move away from Celtic in the January transfer window.

Indeed, following Ange Postecoglou’s signings of Kyogo Furuhashi, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Daizen Maeda, Ajeti now appears to be well down the attacking pecking order at Celtic Park – something that is hardly surprising considering the £2.25m-rated man’s returns since joining the club.

Over his 48 appearances for the Hoops, the former West Ham United striker has scored just nine goals and registered five assists, while he also earned an extremely disappointing seasonal SofaScore match rating of 6.85 over his 20 Premiership appearances in 2020/21 – ranking him as Celtic’s joint 12th-worst performer in the league last season.

Things have not improved for the £18k-per-week striker this time around, either, with the forward averaging a match rating of 6.72 over his seven league outings, before sustaining a “significant” hamstring injury back in December.

These returns have, rather understandably, seen the 11-time capped international come in for criticism, with Packie Bonner stating of the 24-year-old: “If he’s not scoring goals, what else is he doing? That’s the problem. What else is he doing? How does he lend himself to the team?”

As such, considering the fact that Ajeti has so far cost the Bhoys roughly £6.5m in wages and transfer fees combined over his 79-week stay at Celtic Park, it is clear for all to see that the centre-forward is stealing a living from the Hoops – something that Postecoglou simply must address this summer.

نجح فريق الترسانة، في ضم حارس مرمى نادي الزمالك مواليد 2002، عمر أسامة عبد الكريم خلال فترة الانتقالات الصيفية الحالية.

وأعلن نادي الترسانة الذي يلعب في القسم الثاني للدوري المصري، اليوم الأحد، التعاقد بشكل رسمي مع عمر أسامة عبد الكريم حارس مرمى نادي الزمالك مواليد 2002 ومنتخب الشباب السابق.

وأشار نادي الترسانة إلي أن التعاقد مع حارس مرمي الزمالك صفقة انتقال حر وذلك بعد استنغاء الفارس الأبيض عنه في الفترة الحالية.

ويتواجد في حراسة مرمى الزمالك خلال قائمة الموسم الحالي، الثلاثي محمد صبحي ومحمد عواد وعبد الرحمن نفاد.

وكان الزمالك استهل مشواره في الموسم الجديد 2023-2024 أمس السبت بمواجهة أرتا سولار الجيبوتي في ذهاب دور الـ 32 لبطولة الكونفدرالية الإفريقية وخسر بهدفين دون رد.

O clube de General Severiano mostrou apoio ao ex-jogador.

Além de ter se colocado à disposição da família de Roberto Miranda para ajudar na situação, o clube publicou uma mensagem de força em sua conta no Twitter na última terça-feira, desejando “toda força, energias positivas e orações” para o ex-atacante.

Roberto Miranda é o nono maior artilheiro da história do Botafogo, com 154 gols em 349 partidas, sendo o 15º que mais entrou em campo com a camisa do Alvinegro. Além disto, o atacante esteve presente no elenco da Copa do Mundo de 1970, que garantiu o tricampeonato mundial para o Brasil.

Fast bowlers Jerome Taylor and Kemar Roach, who have battled injuries recently, have been recalled to the West Indies squad for the first Test against New Zealand, which starts in Kingston on June 8. The squad also includes offspinner Shane Shillingford, who was cleared for a return to international cricket earlier this year, following remedial work on his bowling action.The selectors also named left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn in the 13-member squad, while Dwayne Bravo was ruled out due to an injury sustained during IPL 2014.Plagued by injuries since his debut in 2003, Taylor recently returned to competitive cricket for Jamaica in a one-dayer against the touring Ireland side in February. He then finished as the second-highest wicket-taker for Jamaica in the Regional Four Day Competition, bagging 25 wickets in eight games at an average of 25.28. Taylor’s last Test appearance was in November 2009, against Australia in Brisbane.Roach, on the other hand, has not played a Test since the home series against Zimbabwe in March 2013. A shoulder injury forced him out of the India tour in November last year after which he underwent a surgery. Since April, Roach has been working with BCA coach Vasbert Drakes, West Indies coach Ottis Gibson and his Maple teammate Corey Collymore – all three are former West Indies fast bowlers – in order to get his shoulder back in shape for bowling. A few months ago, he escaped serious injury following a car accident in his native Barbados.Shillingford was suspended for an illegal bowling action in December, during West Indies’ tour to New Zealand. He made a successful return to competitive cricket with a match haul of 11 wickets for Windward Islands in a Regional Four Day Competition game in March and was subsequently cleared for an international return. The offspinner, however, cannot bowl his doosra, as it remains illegal.In a side packed largely with pacers, Benn, who last played a Test in December 2010, is expected to reinforce the side’s spin department. West Indies will miss the services of Sunil Narine, who was disqualified from selection for the Tests against New Zealand after missing the deadline to report to the West Indies camp in order to play the IPL final.The series will be the first assignment for Denesh Ramdin, who took over as Test captain from Darren Sammy last month. Sammy then announced his retirement from Test cricket hours after Ramdin’s appointment. The wicketkeeper-batsman has led the national side in three T20s and an ODI and has more extensive leadership experience with Trinidad & Tobago.The Jamaica Test is also likely to be Chris Gayle’s 100th match in the format. Gayle struggled with a back injury during the IPL and recently sought treatment in Germany, aiming to be fit for the landmark Test in front of his home crowd.
