O Peixe ainda aguarda as situações de David Braz e Ricardo Oliveira. O defensor trata um estiramento muscular na panturrilha direita, enquanto o camisa 9 dá sequência à pré-temporada que iniciou mais tarde por conta de caxumba.

Celtic must sign Liam Delap this summer

When Odsonne Edouard finally packs his bags and departs Celtic, a huge void will be left behind by the Frenchman.

The striker is one of the most lethal forwards we’ve seen at Parkhead but his future is in enormous doubt.

Edouard has been consistently linked with a move to English shores and it would appear that a deal is on the verge of going through.

A switch has been agreed with Leicester for the 23-year-old to leave in a reported £15m deal.

It’s not huge money, particularly when you consider his importance to the club. He scored 22 goals last term and has racked up 83 strikes in 168 games for the Bhoys.

Therefore, trying to replace him this summer will be incredibly hard for Ange Postecoglou.

He could do so temporarily by luring Liam Delap to the club on loan.

Manchester Evening News claimed this week that Postecoglou’s appointment in Glasgow could open up an avenue for Manchester City’s most vibrant young players to head to Celtic for match experience.

Jason Denayer and Patrick Roberts’ loan moves a number of years ago have led to an existing relationship between the two clubs, one that could be extended given Guardiola’s words for the Australian previously.

Speaking after a pre-season friendly between City and Yokohama Marinos, the Spaniard said: “Yokohama played some incredible football and they were an incredible test for us. I knew how good they were and it was tough for us.”

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-celtic-news-faria-postecoglou-howe-elyounoussi” title= “Read the latest Celtic news!”]

MEN suggests that Delap is one of the players that could be made available to Celtic and judging by his record this term, he’d be a marvellous capture.

In simple terms, the 18-year-old is a goal-scoring sensation. Described as a “phenomenal” player by talent scout Jacek Kulig, the teenager is a “machine” in the box according to the same football figure.

Delap only made three appearances for City’s senior side this term but he was in devastating form during youth football, scoring 24 times in 20 Premier League 2 outings.

His overall tally for the campaign ended at a whopping haul of 30 goals.

Possessing pace and athleticism, Delap has the ability to burst beyond the defence in a scintillating fashion. His physical attributes are incredible for a player of his age, also housing the ability to hold the ball up and head.

The youngster is the definition of a complete forward and should definitely be considered by Postecoglou this summer.

Replacing Edouard will be an arduous task but Delap’s track record to date is incredible; he could well revive the Hoops’ fortunes next term.

AND in other news, McKay must seal Celtic swoop for 58-cap “beast” who’s “always loved” Ange Postecoglou…

Charnley stance on Newcastle takeover

A source has shared what Lee Charnley’s stance is on the Premier League and how they have dealt with the potential takeover of Newcastle United.

The Lowdown: Arbitration looms

The arbitration case between the St. James’ Park faithful and the English top flight is seemingly not far away at all, as Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie has reported that it is expected to start at the end of June.

Mike Ashley has also launched a separate anti-competition claim against the division over their decision-making process in the failed deal between him and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) group, which he is keeping in his back pocket in case the results of the arbitration hearing do not go in his favour.

The Latest: Charnley’s stance

As per The Athletic, a source has shared that since the takeover bid has stalled, Charnley’s tone during meetings has sometimes been ‘negative’, adding that he ‘isn’t happy’ with how the PL behaved when they decided to fail the bid.

The source also claimed with regards to the failed deal that ‘that’s led to Newcastle almost protest-voting against things’, hence the two separate claims that they have launched against the Premier League.

The Verdict: Not surprising

It is not surprising at all to hear that Charnley is not happy with how the top flight have behaved with regards to the whole takeover saga.

He, like Ashley, is keen for the Tyneside club to be sold to the KSA consortium, but the decision-making of the top flight has left both them and the fans in limbo.

Nonetheless, he will be hoping for a positive result for the Magpies in the arbitration proceedings coming up, which should paint a much better picture over the direction the takeover is heading.

If the results are negative for the Toon, then at least they have the separate anti-competition lawsuit to fall back on, but Charnley will be hoping that this is not needed, and fans will be hoping to see the back of him too.

Mashonaland beat Academy and weather in Logan Cup

Mashonaland beat both the Academy and the weather to win their Logan Cup match by 65 runs

John Ward18-Feb-2001Mashonaland beat both the Academy and the weather to win their Logan Cup match by 65 runs. The Academy made a valiant effort in pursuit of their target, but in the end their lack of experience and bowler-friendly conditions proved too much for them.Remarkably, play was able to start on time at Harare Sports Club, not generally well known for its drying capabilities. With more rain very possible before too long, Mashonaland captain Trevor Penney decided to gamble in pursuit of victory. He declared at the overnight total of 253 for three, and both captains agreed to forfeit an innings. The inexperienced CFX Academy were therefore given all day – or as much as the weather allowed – to score 254 runs for victory. They suffered a bad start when captain Terrence Duffin had his stumps spread-eagled second ball, without a run scored, by a yorker from Eddo Brandes. His replacement, Andre Neethring, enjoyed two escapes in the slips before being unluckily bowled off his foot by Darlington Matambanadzo for 6; 27 for two. Then developed a determined partnership between Barney Rogers and opener Wisdom Siziba, who has become a more fluent player since his Matabeleland performances last year, when he became noted for some sterling defensive efforts, most notably that of carrying his bat through the innings on his debut. He has developed the ability to work the ball around the field for ones and twos, and he kept the score ticking over all the time. Some of the Mashonaland fielders became unnecessarily vocal in their frustration.Andy Flower came on to bowl his rare but useful slow-medium seamers, but it was as a fielder that he broke the stand, taking a smart catch as Siziba (48) sliced Paul Strang into the gully; 99 for three. Lunch was taken at 107 for three (Rogers 44, Guy Coxford 0).Rogers moved to 55 after lunch before dragging a ball from Brandes on to his stumps via the bottom of his bat. Shortly afterwards, rain drove the players from the field with the Academy on 133 for four (Coxford 11, Ryan Butterworth 3).Tea was taken, and play resumed at 3.10; the Academy still needed 121 to win and theoretically 35 more overs were to be bowled. Coxford was quickly bowled by Brandes for 12, a full-length delivery that went through the gate. Three overs were lost to rain, which freshened up the pitch and made batting more difficult. Butterworth (7), after surviving several rearing balls from Brandes, fell lbw to a full-length one, and at l42 for six the Academy’s chances were fading. The end came quickly. Three more wickets fell in six deliveries before, at 148 for nine, MacMillan (21) and Leon Soma (19 not out) decided they might as well go down with all guns blazing. They shared a dashing partnership of 40 before the former pulled the tiring Brandes, who took six for 45, to Evans at deep square leg for the match to end with nine overs to spare.

Sachin Tendulkar's brilliance sinks the Australians

India bounced back after their dismal performance in Pune to win the third One-Day International played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Indore, against Australia by a whopping margin of 118 runs

Santhosh S31-Mar-2001India bounced back after their dismal performance in Pune to win the third One-Day International played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Indore, against Australia by a whopping margin of 118 runs. Australia were all out for 181 runs in 35.5 overs, chasing a tough victory target of 300 in 50 overs. The day clearly belonged to the world’s premier batsman, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. After being put into bat by Steve Waugh, India really wanted Tendulkar to fire on all guns. Waugh’s choice of bowling first was based on the fact that there was some moisture on the track. Tendulkar initially tamed the bowling by playing sensibly, curtailing his extravagant stroke play but once he got to his fifty, he cut loose.Tendulkar made 139 runs off 125 balls decorating his knock with 19 classy strokes past the ropes. This was Tendulkar’s 28th ODI hundred and in the end it proved to be a match winning one. Indore went into the record books today, Tendulkar becoming the first batsman in the history of ODI cricket to reach the milestone of 10,000 runs. In the course of the Indian innings, Glenn McGrath became the third Australian to reach 200 wickets, when he bowled Vijay Dahiya for nought.Chasing India’s imposing total of 299/8 in 50 overs, Australia was bound to struggle. On a pitch with uneven bounce and keeping low, fluent stroke play was not really on. The fact that Australia’s best ODI batsman Mark Waugh was out of the team with a fractured finger must have been a big let down for his twin brother Steve Waugh. Australia’s policy of rotation seems not to be working; today they rested their in-form batsman Matthew Hayden.Damien Martyn and Adam Gilchrist were the opening batsmen today and they put on 46 runs. Martyn (19) looked good, but was caught behind off Srinath. Gilchrist played a cracker of an innings of 63 (70 balls, 10 fours, 1 six) that included 22 runs from an over bowled by Zaheer Khan. It was an amazing display of power hitting, with the sequence reading as 4,0,6,4,4,4 as Australia rekindled hopes of a victory. Gilchrist was given a couple of reprieves by Ganguly and Dahiya soon after he got to his fifty. Gilchrist’s dismissal at 102 in the 20th over resulted in a tailspin and Australia never recovered from it.Gilchrist’s tame dismissal came about when he slapped a full toss from Harbhajan Singh straight to Ganguly at mid-wicket. Ajit Agarkar (3/38), Harbhajan Singh (3/37) and Srinath (2/34) were just about too much for the jaded Aussies. Ricky Ponting (23) failed again. Bevan (7) was bowled of an inside edge, cutting at a ball to close to his body. Harvey (1) and Lehmann (1) did not apply themselves and gave easy catches when they should have given support to their captain marvel, Steve Waugh. Andrew Symonds was unlucky to be given out, caught behind by the umpire. The ball clearly hit the pad on its way to the keeper and the bat was too far away from the ball. There wasn’t much fight left in the Aussies as Steve Waugh (23) holed out a catch in the deepafter Shane Warne (18) had run himself out.Earlier, Ganguly dropped himself down from the opener’s role and asked Rahul Dravid to open the innings with Tendulkar. Dravid (15) was caught behind by Gilchrist off an impressive Damien Fleming. VVS Laxman joined Tendulkar in the middle and steadied the Indian innings. They put on a match winning partnership of 199 runs for the second wicket in just 29.4 overs. Laxman made 83 (88 balls, 6 fours) before being run out. These two batsmen have had moments of indiscretion in running between wickets and this time it was Laxman’s turn to get out.India slipped from 231/1 in the 38th over to 299/8 in 50 overs. Damien Fleming shone with his bowling and finished with the most respectable figures of 10-1-34-2. His figures were achieved in the middle of a deluge of runs when Tendulkar was going full throttle. Ganguly lasted only for three balls before sending the ball high in the air to give Bevan an easy catch off the bowling of Fleming. McGrath came back and dismissed Tendulkar, caught by Fleming while going for a pull shot of a rising delivery. McGrath also accounted for Dahiya (0) and Dinesh Mongia (4). Ajit Agarkar (1) fell lbw to Ian Harvey, soon aftersurviving a big leg before appeal from McGrath.Hemang Badani, who made a hundred in the previous match, swung Warne for a massive six over long on but ran himself out after making 23 runs off 25 balls. Today was yet another day that belonged to the little master. Tendulkar played almost all the strokes in the game. A delicate late cut off Martyn to the third man fence, a paddle sweep off Symonds, a cracking inside out cover drive off Warne, pulling and cutting McGrath, it was all Tendulkar in full flow.Cammie Smith, the match referee did not waste much time in declaring Tendulkar as the Man of the Match.India are 2-1 up in the five match series. The next game will be played on April 3 in the east coast harbour city of Vishakapatnam.
